SUPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT! Senran Kagura Anniversary Celebration Month!

This is a bit sudden I know, I had no intentions doing this until 15 minutes ago. This week marks the 8th Anniversary of the Japanese video game franchise Senran Kagura, something I didn’t know until today. Sure enough, being a die hard fan of this franchise, I knew something must be done to celebrate!

My History with Senran Kagura

If you’ve had any exposure to my blog, you’ll know that aside from Godzilla, so much Godzilla, I’m a huge fan of this series. I’ve been with it for the whole 8 years it’s been with us, and it’s carried me across several games, several platforms and several anime adaptations.

Now I’ve already talked about Senran Kagura before on this blog, doing an episode by episode review of the latest anime Shinovi Master and a review of the first anime series Ninja Flash. But I’ve never really talked about the video games, in fact I’ve turned my back on them altogether. Since I started Average Joe Reviews I’ve phased video game reviews out of my repertoire since I don’t enjoy them as much and I’ve found a more enjoyable setting in the form of anime/movie reviews and general pop culture discussions. But with this month, that all changes!

The time has come girls, your month is upon us!

What to Expect?

So what can you all expect to see in this special month celebrating this beloved franchise of mine. Well as mentioned, I’ve already talked about the anime series the franchise received, so it’s time to confront the video games. This month will consist of 7 posts, I’ll try to aim for about 2 a week with these, or else we’ll be left with a pretty long month. The schedule will be the following.

Timeline of Events

  • Day 1: Senran Kagura Burst (2011) – We start the celebrations off, naturally, with the first entry in the franchise and see if it still holds up.
  • Day 2: Senran Kagura Deep Crimson (2014) – The follow up to the original, here we’ll talk about what might be my favourite game in the franchise.
  • Day 3: Senran Kagura Estival Versus (2015) – My first PS4 Senran kagura game, and one which sets the tone for the future of the franchise.
  • Day 4: Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash (2017) – The third person shooter spin-off that brings the most unusual experience so far.
  • Day 5: Senran Kagura Burst Re;Newal (2018) – The remaster of the original, and one that was met with some unusual controversy.
  • Day 6: Senran Kagura Reflections (2019) – The spin-off dating sim that found its way onto the Switch. Let’s just say this will be a strange one.
  • Day 7: ???

And that right there is the plan for this celebration of all things Senran Kagura, now for the question of when will it start. Well I want to start and get these all set up and ready to be published in a fairly consistent pace, so I’ll start posting these come the start of next week. I know it will go over into next month, and given the schedules length it’s longer than a month, but you know what, it’s my special themed month, I make the rules! I was going to do the Godzilla Anime themed month first, but hey ho, plans change. That being said I hope you’re all ready to join me on this crazy ride through one crazy franchise. So grab your shinobi weapon of choice, hide your ninja scroll and prepare for a month of shinobis, swords and sexiness.

Thank you for reading I hope you enjoyed it. If you did please consider leaving a like and following my blog for updates on future posts. Also follow me on twitter @joe_reviews for further updates and general nonsense. Till next time.
