One Year of Blogging

I remember starting out attempting to review video games, only for that I be quickly brushed aside for movies and general discussions. Over time

  • 21st of October 2018 – We hit 1000 views on my blog
  • 28th of November 2018 – The total number of individual visitors to the blog was 800
  • 12th of December 2018 – We hit 500 likes on the blog
  • 24th of December 2018 – We hit both 2000 views and 1000 individual visitors on the blog
  • 5th of March 2019 – Average Joe Reviews hit 100 followers
  • Todayย – Our one year anniversary

These are some of the moments that have really made me proud to be a blogger and a part of this amazing community. While we’re on that topic, I want to give a big thank you to all the bloggers who have helped me throughout this yearlong journey. Your likes, comments, tags and much more are what makes me happy to write my reviews, discussion and tag responses. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to everyone in this community, thanks to you I decided to commit to this blog and here it is now one year on. I want to leave a bunch of shoutouts but I fear there’s just too many people I want to thank.

These moments filled me with so much joy!

The Evolution of Average Joe Reviews

When I started out, I had this idea that I wanted to be a video game reviewer, akin to the like of AVGN and other online reviews of gaming. But I encountered a slight issue, irrelevance. The games I talked about in my earlier days were things like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1/2, Rayman Legends and other games that came out years ago. If I wanted to be a more accessible game reviewer I would have had to invest time and money in the more recent games. This was something I wasn’t too keen on due to outside commitments as well as a lack of finances to consistently purchase games to review, so I had to change tactics. I decided to review movie and anime, which were much easier to obtain and view, and the rest is history. I feel like I found my footing with my Godzilla reviews as they were the first batch of reviews that I noticed really took off. I loved writing them since they were something I’m passionate about and I think that’s how they ultimately took off. I also feel like I’ve slowly become more accustomed to doing general discussion posts alongside my typical reviews, and these are easily some of my favorite posts. Right now I feel like I’ve finally found my footing as a blogger, a combination of anime, general pop culture and retro media is my style of content now. I once again need to thank everyone for their support

Pretty decent evolution I think

Plans for the Future

So, what are the plans for he future of Average Joe Reviews? Well the biggest plan is that I plan to maybe start an Average Joe Podcast! I’ve had this idea for a while now but right now it’s still in the early stages of brainstorming. I’m scouring the internet for affordable microphone technology as well as a potential schedule to adhere to. The podcast would basically be what you find here just in podcast, general reviews, pop culture discussions and much more. My intention is to stream it on Twitch and maybe post them to YouTube if all goes well. I also plan to host it with a friend who said he’d be interested so we’ll have to wait and see how this idea goes. If you don’t mind listening to my offensively British accent and loud voice, maybe this podcast will be for you.

Here’s hoping this plan comes off

Once Again, Thank You

So to close out this post, I just want to say thank you once again to everyone. When I first started this blog, I feared it would be a fleeting thing that I would drop after a month or so, and here we are twelve months later celebrating a year of blogging and being a part of an amazing community. In fact, committing to this blog has inspired me to commit more to other things instead of dropping interest in an hour, which has helped my general writing ability and creativity immensely. In a lot of ways it’s you’re interactions, comments, tags and kind words that helped cultivate this blog to the way it is, so thank you all for giving me this amazing platform to grow on. So once again, thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed it. Till next time.

  1. Congratulations on having made it this far! The first year was the most difficult for me, so I think youโ€™ll find yourself gaining a lot of momentum from this point onwards.
