I would like to thank everyone for the incredibly well received Brotherhood Tag post I did. It has now set a record for my fastest growing post and I’m really glad people like it. I’d also like to thank those who showed enthusiasm in my Bacon Stuffed Potato Recipe, it honestly took me by surprise that so many people liked the sound of it. But back patting aside, on to todays tag, the Build a Harem Tag.

Wow, I just cannot be stopped with these tag responses. Ok, I’ll admit this one is me kinda cheating. Long story short, Moyatori allowed me to partake in the Build a Harem Tag, despite not being officially nominated. So this is like entering a race halfway through the lap. I’ve seen loads of posts on this tag and was waiting for my chance to do it, and now I can. With that said, what is the Harem Tag?

The Harem Tag Explained

We’ve all heard of or seen a harem anime or two. Where the protagonist seems to attract waifu’s or husbando’s to them like a magnet. This tag puts you in the position of that protagonist and gives you free rein to choose your harem. But like all other tag posts, there are rules we must abide by. (can choose additional waifu type)

• Include the Build a Harem image (See Above)
• Link back to the original post on Anime QandA so they can check out everyone’s picks!
• Make sure to mention the person who nominated you.
  • Once again I was nominated by Moyatori, check out their Build-a-Harem post here.
• Pick 5 Anime Characters (any show & any gender) that would be in your ideal harem if you were the main character of a harem anime, explain a little bit as to why they are your picks (if you want).
  • I’m gonna be limiting myself to one character per franchise as well, otherwise this whole list would be girls from either Highschool DxD or Senran Kagura.
• Make sure each character you pick falls into some of the following harem character types: Childhood friend, tom boy/girl, genki girl/boy, loli/shota, trap, tsundere, yandere, kuudere, dandere, etc. (If there’s a character you’ve picked that doesn’t specifically fall into one of these types or falls into multiple types that’s fine too, just mention what archetype they’d be)
• Nominate 5 people for the tag.

This list isn’t final, in fact I’m tempted to do a part 2 just for me where I add another 5 to the harem, because let’s be honest if we had the opportunity we’d have our lists be like 50+ long. With that said let’s get into this list.

This was a hard choice for me, I’ve spent way too long thinking about this list, but it has been a lot of fun. As a previously massive fan of the harem anime genre, it was fun to dive back into this sea and fish out some of these darling waifu’s. Everyone says that no matter the list, each Build-A-Harem post never disappoints and after reading some I can agree, so I hope you enjoy this list.

Yukana Yume – Hajimate no Gyaru (The Childhood Friend)

Starting off the list we have a girl whom I’d previously abandoned, or rather I abandoned her anime. In my list of Anime Series I Couldn’t Finish, an early blog post of mine, Hajimate no Gyaru was number 1. The characters were either stereotypes of stereotypes or just not that likable. However, among all the blue-balls and basic characters, Yume was by far my favourite character. I like the Gyaru archetype because underneath the makeup and fashion of these characters, you can often find a personality that is very earnest and secretly kind-hearted. From what I saw of Yume, she was a really sweet girl with a lot of secret affection for Juunichi and his oblivious nature. Not only is she adorable to boot, with her casual outfit, nice hair and cute face, I like how she lets down her ‘girly girl’ facade when around Juunichi and allows herself to be seen for what she really is with him. If she was to be in this harem of mine, she’d be the one I’d have known the longest, who I’ve got to know on the inside and beyond the Gyaru persona.

5. Fuuri Watanuki – Super Sonic (The Tomboy)

Choosing Super Sonico herself seems a little bit too easy, so I went with one of her second bananas, Fuuri. Fuuri is my favourite of the secondary characters simply because of her appetite and adorably ditzy personality. Her insatiable appetite is one I can relate to, being a major food lover myself. I also love her unshakable enthusiasm for things, like the band, her friends and most of all her food. Not to mention Fuuri looks ADORABLE, I love her short messy hair and droopy eyes. She’s most certainly a tomboy, acting the most boy like in the group and having a pretty tomboyish look to her. I also really must admire her ability to consume so much food and not actually put any of it on as weight, this is a superpower I happen to share so there’s something we have in common. There isn’t really much else to say about Fuuri, but she’s definitely a keeper in my eyes, I get the feeling we’d go on a lot of food dates and maybe one or two arcade trips, but no matter the location, with Fuuri it’d be 101% FUN.

3. Sherra L. Greenwood – How Not to Summon a Demon Lord (The DereDere)

One of the more recent waifu’s to ‘bust’ onto the scene, but she’s settled down in my heart. Sherra is lovable on SO many levels, but I’ll try to list of some of her best ‘assets’. For one, her determination is something to admire. Running away from her kingdom to live her own life and refusing to return to that life is a splendid display of bravery. She’s also a sweetheart, and is someone I’d love to make smile if only to see her happy. Also I will admit I’m drawn to her looks a great deal, her fanservice ridden design is something you can’t help but look at her and think… DAYUUUM! But her main pull is her kindness, Sherra always puts others before herself and is willing to put up a fight for any of her friends at the cost of her own safety. Sherra’s bubbly personality and seemingly never-ending stream of happiness and cheeriness is a clear trope of the DereDere. Sherra is bright, she’s bubbly adorable to boot and will always put a smile on your face.

2. Akeno Himejima – Highschool DxD (The Tease)

Ok and now we descend into the Highschool DxD territory. Now everyone who has seen Highschool DxD has at least one waifu in their catalogue, but since I limited myself to one character per franchise I went with my favourite, miss Akeno Himejima. For me, Akeno is a textbook waifu, especially for the ecchi lover. She’s got a killer figure, a deceptively beautiful face and is a tease to the protagonist. Akeno isn’t just seduction and teasing though, deep down she is a real love bundle and has deep feelings for those she cares about. I can’t hide the fact that she’s on this list because she’s a seductive tease, why do you think it’s next to her name? But I’ve always had this weird soft spot for the tease characters in anime, there’s just something so alluring about them. Akeno’s constantly lowered gaze is a major draw and her voice, both sub and dub is beautifully seductive but has a hint of sinister about it. I get the feeling Akeno would be the one who’d always put me in awkward positions and tease me for it, but I also think I could learn a bit of magic from her, I’ve always wanted to use magic circles.

1. Haruka – Senran Kagura (The Sadist)

Here she is ladies and gentlemen, my number one waifu and proud owner of the sadist title, Haruka. Senran Kagura is my favourite gaming franchise, and No it isn’t just because of the copious levels of fanservice, they do in fact have some decent story behind their games and the characters are decently fleshed out. But Haruka is here simply because she was the first girl in the series I declared a waifu, and has been the one I’ve loved the most ever since. Before anyone gets any ideas, no I’m not a masochist because Haruka’s a sadist character, I just love her condescending demeanour and how she can just make you melt with a few simple words. I really must praise her Japanese voice actor Megumi Toyaguchi for giving her such a stunning voice, it’s so smooth and calming yet you can just feel the sadistic tinge behind it. Also since this is a Senran Kagura girl, it’s no surprise that one of Haruka’s main pulls is that she looks like a goddess with that body. Her shinobi transformation is one of the best in the game as well, I must say it definitely fits the ancient female shinobi technique of… distracting to the eye. But one other thing I like about Haruka is that, much like many of the girls on this list, she has a barrier that once you can get over, reveals a girl with some real passion and love behind her, and the support she gives her friends is something you really cannot help but admire and appreciate. So Haruka is appealing for her sadistic voice, and the way she can bring you to your knees with just a few words, but also her gorgeous looks and a deep down affection for others. Haruka would be at the centre of my harem, and be the one to put everyone else, including myself in their place.
